COMING UP FOR AIR
Let's see, since we last talked (I know, it's me doing all the talking and you all having to put up with me), a lot has happened. Where do I begin?
On a personal note, my daughter and her husband (a/k/a the _ _ _ who swept her off her feet and moved to California--by the way, his name is "Old Joe") spent two glorious weeks with us (glorious for Renee and I, although the jury is still out regarding their feelings, as all I heard was how bored they were). Anyway, I got my "Claire fix" for a little while, although Renee's is rapidly wearing off, as evidenced by the fact that I am getting a lot of pressure to go to California over Mardi Gras. Now, folks, those of you who know Renee and Mardi Gras know how this is really weird. Anyway, the jury's still out on whether a trip to "Cali" is in the cards over Mardi Gras - it's really a great feeling to be the judge and jury on this one. (OOPS, after I read this paragraph to Renee, she quickly advised me that if we go we will be traveling to California on Ash Wednesday- the day after Mardi Gras for you folks who are not from Louisiana.)
Now, for some really great news - MARDI GRAS IS OVER!, at least for me. Yes, that's right, Renee's duties as the Dame (a/k/a Damn) Commander of her Mardi Gras Krewe is over. Everything is as it should be - she can finally get back to waiting on me 24 hours per day (even though I am color blind, my imagination is quite colorful, don't you think?)
However, although I have declared the end of Mardi Gras for 2010 in our family, it is not over at The Borne Quilter. So, here we go-----
"Fat Tuesday Fat Quarter Sale"
Thursday, 2/11/10 - Saturday, 2/13/10
Although we are going to be closed on Mardi Gras (duh!!), Mardi Gras is coming early to The Borne Quilter---
As you know, all fabric in the shop is also sold by the fat quarter (some of which have been cut and folded by yours truly using that "rolly thing"). The regular price range of our fat quarters is $2.50 - $3.25 per fat quarter. Well, beginning Thursday, 2/11/10 and ending Saturday, 2/13/10-
ALL FAT QUARTERS WILL BE SOLD FOR $2.00 PER FAT QUARTER.
Trust me, this was not my idea! So, as Bob Barker from the Price is Right used to say---"Come on Down".
GO SAINTS SALE!!!
No, we could not let our beloved New Orleans Saints and The Super Bowl go by without an appropriate SALE! However, you've got to prove that you are a part of the "WHO DAT" Nation to participate.
Yea, you guessed it - in keeping with The Borne Quilter's ever expanding and soon to be world renowned reputation as being THE party quilt shop, any customer who enters the shop on Saturday, February 6 dressed in GO SAINTS!
garb, will receive a 10% discount on all purchases of non-sale
items. So, get dressed up and come help us get ready for a Saints win!
SPEAKING OF SALES
Hey,
remember that inventory reduction sale that I told you about in the
last newsletter? Yea, of course you remember--the one that consists of
40% off selected bolts of fabric (like 600 or so bolts). Well,
although the sale was a smashing success, I have not had time to take
the sale tags off the remaining bolts and the women of my life (a/k/a/
Janie, Denise, Diane and Julie--yes we have a new person on board and
she's no fun, since I can't pull the wool over her eyes, as she's been
knowing me just about all of my life, it seems) are doing what they do
best---not taking anything off sale. So, before I come up for air
again and personally take off the tags, you might want to drop by and
see what interests you. Better hurry, I am running out of air quickly.
CLASSES
I am told that I will soon be given a list of many classes to be offered over the next few months (the story of my life--I am told a lot of things). For now, here is what is on the horizon - the very near horizon:
Beginning Machine Piecing
Every
Thursday from February 11 through March 11, at either 10 am-1 pm or 6
pm-9 pm. The price is $75 plus materials and you must bring and know
how to operate a sewing machine. Please come by or contact the shop by
the end of this week for reservations and payment. Denise
Domingue
will be your fearless leader.
Beginning Sewing
Every Wednesday from March 3 through March 31 from 1:00-4:30. The price is $75 plus supplies and you must bring a sewing machine. My lovely bride of 33 years, Renee, will be teaching this one.
More classes are on the horizon, I am told. Let's see if the women of my life will make me proud!
OKAY,
ONE LAST THING--SO THAT THERE IS NO MISUNDERSTANDING, THE BORNE QUILTER
WILL BE CLOSED ON MARDI GRAS, FEBRUARY 16, 2010. LAISSEZ LES BON TEMPS
ROULEZ!
Until I run out of air--
"Sew + Quilt = Create!"
