A&W Root Beer Restaurant; oil change facility; mini blinds – oh, I almost forgot – vending machines. What do all of these have to do with a quilt shop, right? Well, in my husband’s warped way of thinking, this was the natural progression of how we got to where we are today. You see, all of these things were his hair brained ideas of how to get me involved in the business world. Of course, I was going to be the person pouring the root beer, changing the oil, hanging the blinds and stocking the vending machines – NOT!

Finally, after having to endure all of his mindless ramblings and market researching (yes, he was serious!) he came up with one I just could not resist - thus, the conception of The Borne Quilter. That was 4 years ago – that’s right, a 4 year pregnancy! However, after my continually telling him “if you build it they will come” (the theme of one of his favorite movies), our Field of Dreams became a reality on June 17, 2008.

Sew + Quilt = Create! The Borne Quilter is not about me (or my husband!). It is about you – the quilter, the seamstress – the creative sewer. It is about quilters and creative sewers of all ages and levels of experience. It is about those who do not even know that they have creative sewing abilities, yet have a desire to experience, at some level or another, the wonderful world of fabrics and the creations that are at their fingertips.

Although The Borne Quilter is still an infant in the quilting and creative sewing field, I am pleased to bring to it a life-long passion for everything that is creative sewing. With that passion comes our desire to offer to you, our present and future friends, the finest quality fabrics for your creations; the newest patterns and books to stimulate your creative juices; state of the art supplies to bring it all together; and, of course classes to guide you through the process.

So, WELCOME! We hope you find the contents of our website stimulating and helpful. We also hope that all of you - those who live in our beloved Acadiana and those who have the opportunity to visit all of its wonderful places and experience its one of a kind hospitality - stop by and visit us, even if it is just for a cup of our favorite brew of Community Coffee. By doing so, you will help me be able to tell my husband what I like telling him most – I TOLD YOU SO – “If you build it, they will come!”
